Die erste Woche

Posted in work

It’s a wrap. The first week of work at Espi is officially over.

Looking back, the start was rather overwhelming. Luckily this quickly changed into a week filled up with a lot of new stuff learned, new people met and new ideas picked up.

Welcome at Espi was amazing. Together with 5 other interns I arrived on Wednesday where we would be assigned to our respective teams. The other ‘praktikanten’ are really down to earth people and we’ve talked much in the past few days, really looking forward to working further with Arthur, Barabara, Pauline & Stefan.

I’m assigned to the team with one of the biggest projects. Diving in was scary. It’s a Rails based backend and I have close to zero Rails experience. Now though, after carefully going trough the Ruby code I can actually see the beauty of it. Ruby seems way to damn cool and has a lot of stuff that Javascript only has since short (ES6/7).

Pretty stoked to see what comes in the following weeks. Undoubtedly it’ll be a lot of fun and learning material. Thanks to Allegra, Anna, Eric, Fei, Louise and the rest at Espi for what was already a fun first-week and introduction :)

PS: I also got a fucking cool tote sack which says: GO TO HEL-VETICA. Best way to onboard new people if you ask me.
